Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
In the EES Academy, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive culture where equal opportunities are ensured regardless of gender, age, origin, personal background, or religion. We believe that diverse research teams are essential for scientific excellence and innovation. As such, we offer courses and events to create awareness, overcome unconcious bias, and foster intercultural exchange. EES Academy members and alumni originate from over 30 different countries spanning across all continents.

Thesis Advisory Committee
For doctoral researchers associated to the EES Academy we offer specific support as part of our structured program. To ensure high-quality scientific supervision, each doctoral researcher is guided by a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) comprised of three advisors:
- The professor supervising the doctoral researcher
- A second professor from a matching discipline
- A senior researcher (e.g., postdoc or group leader) involved in day-to-day technical supervision.
The two professors should come from two different partner universities, to foster collaboration between the institutions. The TAC meets at least once a year to advice on career aspects and reserach progress. The TAC documents and advises on all aspects related to completing the doctoral thesis successfully.

Find a Mentor
The education and support of early career researchers from master’s students all the way to early faculty level is a core aspect of all our activities. We particularly focus on peer group mentoring and emphasize on support of underrepresented groups in our community by specifically matching mentors and mentees within our network of over 100 scientists with various backgrounds.
Once a year, we organize a matchmaking event between mentors from academia and industry and mentees of the program.
If you are looking for a mentor in the field of electrochemical energy storage please contact us and follow us on LinkedIn.

Become a Mentor
To offer the best possible mentoring we also take mentor training seriously. Throughout the year, we offer workshop formats specifically tailored toward leadership skills, supervision methods, and healthy workspace environment. Some of these programs are specifically designed to transition ECRs from being a student into their role as independent researchers all the way to leading an own research group. These steps often face individual challenges that we try to address on a case-to-case basis to help support future leaders in the field of electrochemical energy storage.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor or receiving mentor-specific trainings please contact us as we are always looking to build and extend our network.
